SMARTRENAMER HELP / Automation

Dock, Shortcuts, and folder watching

Run saved presets through the Dock or Shortcuts, and configure Pro folder watching with its permissions and limits.

For Mac version 1.0 (release preparation) · Updated: October 31, 2026

Control names are described in English; key Japanese UI labels are included to help you find them in the current app.

Save and test a preset first

Test a recipe with a few files in the normal window, then save it. Automation uses the saved preset, not unsaved edits in the current window. Grant access to the folders involved before relying on unattended runs.

Run by dropping on the Dock icon

  1. In app settings, open Automation (自動化) and choose a preset for Dock にドロップしたとき.
  2. Start with 実行する前に確認する enabled.
  3. Drop targets onto smartRenamer’s Dock icon and review the confirmation or result.

When no automatic preset is selected, dropped files open in the normal workspace. Confirm the selected preset and permissions before turning confirmation off.

Use the Shortcuts app

  1. Save a smartRenamer preset first.
  2. Choose ショートカットを開く in Automation settings.
  3. Create a shortcut with smartRenamer’s file renaming action and select input files and a saved preset.
  4. Test it on a few files, checking permissions and the result.

The app’s App Intents action uses the same saved-recipe execution path and free usage limits as other execution entrances.

Watch a folder (Pro)

  1. Test and save the intended preset.
  2. In Automation settings, choose 新しく追加するフォルダの設定.
  3. Use フォルダを追加… to select a folder and grant access.
  4. Enable watching, keep smartRenamer running, and test newly added files.

Only files newly added after the baseline are processed. Existing files and nested folders are excluded. Restarting monitoring creates a new baseline, so files added while monitoring was off may not be processed.

When automation does not run

  1. Check the app is running, watching is enabled, and Pro is active where required.
  2. Confirm the preset was saved and still exists.
  3. Check external drives are connected and folder access is still valid.
  4. Inspect automation status and errors, and test the recipe manually with the same targets.

If a folder moved or you changed Macs, choose the actual folder again to renew permission.

Droplets and command-line tools

The Mac App Store app does not embed a command-line tool or offer droplet export that creates a stand-alone application.

Use Dock drops, Shortcuts, or Pro folder watching for app automation. Shortcuts passes files through macOS permissions.
